Alila Villas Uluwatu, a Sustainable Resort in Bali
Designed by the architectural firm Woha, Singapore, the new Alila Villas Uluwatu not your typical resort of Bali in use. Designed with a contemporary aesthetic, and meeting the most demanding environmental requirements, the complex looking for the fusion of vernacular architecture and modern design. Located in the savanna of Bukit peninsula, in the hills south of the island of Bali, Alila Villas hotel comprises 50 suites and 35 small apartments. Woha The architectural firm has gone the traditional Balinese pavilion but have treated more modern architectural space, looking for a more rational enjoyment of idyllic ruts without the stereotypical images of the tourist resorts of Bali. Each of the 35 apartments that make up a small building complex is designed in a sustainable and environmentally friendly, while reflecting the rich Balinese culture. Its form is a contemporary interpretation of free and local buildings, and all materials used were obtained in the area, such as volcanic rock or beams Balinese coconut wood and bamboo. Each apartment has a private pool and a terrace facing the Indian Ocean. Its interiors are decorated with contemporary furniture built by local craftsmen of Bali itself or the neighboring island of Java, including lamps and small decorative details.
