Apartment enlargement by ARCHITECTURE-G

A stately old apartment of 160 m2 has been cleverly renovated by the young studio ARCHITECTURE-G. From a typically bourgeois type plant, has got a spacious, flexible, bright, cozy and very modern aesthetic, which also has managed to preserve many of the traditional elements of such stories. The original layout of the plant, very typical in the old floors of the center of Barcelona, was a long hallway that led to the kitchen, pantry and laundry room, and ran parallel to other rooms, while interconnected by double doors. With this distribution of interlinked rooms so typical of the flats mansions are getting two circulations: the service was moving down the hallway, family room to room through the double doors.
From this distribution so out of use, it has decided to keep some of the resources that give personality to the floor. We used the initial structure of consecutive stays as this old scheme has several advantages: the rooms can change dimension with sliding doors, and also can create zones of privacy by closing some of them. The doors have been thus the main source of identity of the apartment, and also provide them with flexibility to different areas to expand its uses as the needs change, one of the requirements of the owners.
The most radical change has been undertaken to remove the old hall and change the kitchen and bathroom placement. The kitchen, with furniture made Vinçonhas been located in the foyer and the new bathroom has taken the space of the old hall, now designed as a large bathroom area, which includes two bathrooms and a guest, you can mingle or independence desired by the user.
ARCHITECTURE-G is a studio created in 2006 and located in Barcelona.
