Cidade da Cultura – Eisenman Architects
City of Culture Complex is one of the projects in process Eisenman ArchitetctsOffice of one of the flagship New York Five prepares for the 2017 opening of this complex with more than 141,000 square feet of cultural program for the city of Santiago de Compostela. Within the complex, also attached Hejduk Towers, a work belonging to another New York Five, John Hejduk (1929-2000). How are you towers were not built like the Botanical Park Torres Compostela, Eisenman decided to include them as part of this project.
This imposing building site Eisenman attempts to reconcile the conservation of heritage in the production of knowledge, research, cultural creation and consumption. These 141.800 meters square containing a mixed program that includes auditoriums, museums, libraries, archives, etc.. For this project, the architect uses the gentle curves of the topography by the project to emerge from the ground and open spaces seamlessly with the landscape.
The complex consists of several separate buildings including subtly include the History Museum and Casa de Galicia World Newspaper Library and the Obradorio Scenario Building and the Central Building.
