Contemporary house in the island by Maria Castello
The reform, carried out between 2008 and 2010, has carved into the existing volumes of the new program looking fluidity between open spaces and refining the surface casing to give the austerity of the architecture of the island, through a language contemporary. On the ground floor are the main public spaces unified relationship (the living room, dining room and kitchen). At this level also has placed the master bedroom with dressing room and bathroom, and a multipurpose room with access to the storage area and service. The first floor houses another first double bedroom with bathroom and a terrace with wonderful views.
The most critical operation volume has been to rethink the way the building came into contact with the ground. That is, transforming a set of stairs and different floors without any harmony, on a platform, on the one hand, embraces the building, preventing runoff reach, and, second, separation of the natural terrain setting a panoramic terrace. Amalia House is the last work done by the architectural firm of Maria Castello. The house is located in Es Ram, an area near des Calo des Mort, on the southern coast of the Balearic island of Formentera (Spain). This is a small plot of 2,000 m2, full of tall pines, with moderate slope to the south and a splendid view of the beach and cliffs Migjorn Es Cap de Barbaria, in the background.
