Design Creative Zone of Rio Beijing by UNStudio

UNStudio won first place in the Concur to the Masterplan of the Creative Zone of Beijing River, located in Yanqing, about 200 km from Beijing. Of the nine projects presented by Foster + Partners (UK), Zaha Hadid (UK), Atelier d’Architecture Christian de Portzamparc (FR), AS. Architecture-Studio (FR), Beijing Tsinghua Urban Planning & Design Institute (CN), Beijing Institute of Architectural Design (CN), NPS (U.S.) and KCAP (NL). The design of the Dutch was the winner.

“The design of the Creative Zone considers compression in two scales, the green carpet and the urban fabric. The urban fabric is made by the related but very different bands. To create an architectural park, offices and pavilions were organized on the basis of Chinese Garden “一步 一 景” (A perspective by step).

The park becomes an international showcase of experimental projects and emerging design practices. By implementing the four groups of a life cycle of products “to think, develop, produce and sell ‘as a continuous loop of activity, creating a platform for all stages of the process towards selling the product. Creative Zone represents the urban typology needed for a new open learning environment in urban planning in nature. “
