Expansion of urban houses in Singapore
This is another example of restoration and conversion of traditional houses, townhouses to art deco style, made by architects from Ong & Ong Pte Ltd. The facade of a historic house and is protected by state, so one of the main objectives was to create a dialogue between traditional and new.
Two-storey house with attic, narrow and elongated, have traditionally suffered from lack of light. The proposed solution involves the development of deep house or land with conservation and restoration of the main facade.
The old part of the house has undergone a complete remodeling with preservation of overall volumes. The new two-story portion built in depth and is connected with the old deep patio. In contrast to the neighboring project, here a little smaller yard and no pool, but the second building, in the depths of the site has a large area.
The entire first floor is given to public functions, on the second and third floors housed living quarters and office.
