New plaza Morocco Pietri Square by Kilo Architecture
This new plaza in the capital of Morocco was designed to promote cultural events and spontaneous urban place. The square flooded and “protected” turn protects visitors from the four streets surrounding the perimeter. Previously, the square cut was seen by traffic, but now the space acts as a piece of urban living, say the architects.
Materiality and the tectonic character of the space is intentionally reduced, using local stones to help contextualize the project. The architects claim that “edifcio is not” added “but” misappropriated “the site”.
