Located in Buzen, Fukuoka (Japan), this family house of 130 m2 have been distributed in an original way: an irregular semi-exterior corridor organizes the space, flooded with light from above and a pleasant courtyard acts where children run ease. The result of this solution not only provides functional response to customer requirements, but gives an aesthetically pleasing personality to the entire house.
The site, with 266 m2, allowing a small outdoor area for the family house architects Suppose Design Office were designed in Buzen. But the custom of the owners required a different solution than the typical garden: “We wanted a park for children, which are still small. But we realized that many times prefer to play in a narrow alley between two houses, between garden plants in the back of a hut, or just a big empty space. More than a playground designed by an adult, wanted to ensure that the children had a patio where you can play more naturally. ”
And from this idea of a game that must be present throughout the house, the house has been designed as a small group of small houses or buildings to be accessed from the “main street” corridor irregular distributes the total space of 130 m2 of ground. The corridor, rather than a longitudinal corridor use, is an empty space between the volumes that are disconnected rooms.
This space they have called “sun room”, becomes an outdoor patio that seems to be covered with a glass ceiling, like a skylight, flooding the entire house skylight. A private space that seems to the public, a corridor that looks like a street. It is a favorite of children who may feel on the outside while eating, read the sun or sleep under the starry sky. More than a courtyard built in the house, the hall is an empty space that organizes and gives character to the house, the soul of the family home life.
