The Pollino National Park Architecture by Mario Cucinella
The Pollino National Park Authority will implement a multipurpose centerLocated in the park in Calabria, in a strategic location, a virtual port , one of the privileged access to the park of Pollino, but also a transit point between Calabria and the northern regions . The project was presented last February at the BIT (Borsa Internazionale del Turismo ) in Milan by the designer Mario Cucinella.
The MCA has designed a book -shaped external geometric ” triangle “and the curved shapes of the interior where you will find the conference room , offices of the park, an educational area and exposure . The building uses active and passive energy strategies . Given the particular context of the park , MCA wanted to evoke a metaphorical nature, for the use of materials in order to ensure the integration of the building in its context connoting as a reference sample .
The multi-functional – has given the president of the Park Pappaterra – has already become an ” attractor ” for its originality. The curved interior designed by Cucinella remember the bonfires of the mountain . “It has an ancestral form – Said the designer – and the design of the ceiling takes mountain contours of the Pollino’. The multi-purpose – for which the town of Morano Calabro approved the variant planning needed to implement the project – and whose construction will begin by next spring , will be built with specific energy criteria , ” is at zero energy – explained Cucinella – And use as a thermal source , geothermal , photovoltaic and solar thermal . ”
The surface area is 845.00 sqm. The budget, funding from the Environment Ministry, is one million and nine hundred thousand euro.
