The tallest in Buenos Aires Puerto Madero Tower by Francisco Mangado
The signing of Spanish architect Francisco MangadoAssociated with the local Study Aisenson, Is developing what will be the tallest building in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in the dock 2 in Puerto Madero. The 200m high tower, will house 68.000m2 housing programs, hotel, restaurants, shops and parking lots.
The tower incorporates public programs not only at ground level, but also in the middle and the top of the tower, integrating in this way as equipment town.
Build a tower is my way of seeing, face three problems of architecture. Of these only two are the most interesting. The other has more to do with the sculpture, with the dimension that the tower becomes objectified to the extent that reference becomes part of the cityscape. The problem of the structure, traditionally the subject of intense reflection is in my view, relegated to a more instrumental way although still important.
Paradoxically, the two most interesting questions are the program and the treatment of soil in its intersection with the high part. The two, is the most convenient, can be treated in urban terms and thus acquire a significance and a very fruitful condition for purely objectified escape treatment, the fight to see who makes the strange object, so common today.
If that does not occupy, the realization of the proposed program, housing, hotel and leisure spaces and services, allows us to understand the continuity of the tower as a public space that is the street boulevard. The treatment of the lower floors as complex and rich from the point of view and spatial and formal program abounds in this idea. These low plants are the first link in a series of public uses that are happening at different levels along the height built.
Among the houses located in the top levels and the hotel occupies the highest, is located the public lobby with restaurants and other services. At the coronation of the tower restaurant, pool and other uses come to confirm the third link public, started on the ground floor and continuing along the tower, supposed to understand the piece built not as detached from urban reality, not as an object placed without further outside the environment, thinking only in terms of distance but rather as a system to continue the street to, the public, the heights.
The intermediate level and higher, based on the proposal, are but short plants, rising public seeking involving fusion of the sights in height and soil. Why do not you understand both spaces as a continuation of the ground floor?. This, curd service program becomes the vital link with the public space, a nexus that formed part of the building features high but that does not understand the project.
