Vertical Village design model by Graft Lab
Prepared for the Gold certification level LEED, Designed by Vertical Village Graft Lab Architects is a more eco-architectural projects in the desert of Dubai. The structure is a mixed-use development ready for homes, hotels and entertainment facilities, which in turn serves as a great collector of solar energy.
The “Vertical Village” is a residential development, hotel and entertainment uses the most powerful source of renewable energy in the desert sun.
Designed to reduce heat gains and maximize solar output, the Village contains buildings which consist of slabs that are shaded on the north side of the land, seeking to reduce the penetration of solar radiation prolonged.
Moreover, the south side of the field is equipped with solar panels to automatically follow the path Reverse sun. This energy provides and redistributed through the roof.
The sunroof is behaving like a leaf, with veins that branch of solar energy into smaller units, in addition to structuring the system itself carries energy, in this case, in the form of hot water that moves back into the building where it is used to reduce the consumption of air conditioning and other household chores.
Under the roofs are located in urban scale spaces such as cinemas, restaurants, shops and theaters that alternate in scale and degree of privacy between the main entertainment strip to the south and the towers and hotels residencail north.
The residential and hotel buildings have been inclined and supported primarily to create points of interest, providing a unique location of each slab, while creating a powerful and constantly changing shape as you walk through the field.
The space between the slabs is opened, linking it disappears and then reappears, offering a theatrical play of volumes is expressed fully in the program entretenemiento and theater.
